YOUNG ADULTS

RETREAT 2025

March 28–30

Y O U N G  A D U L T S  R E T R E A T  2 0 2 4

Join us for this year’s Young Adults Retreat as we explore New Testament prayers to gain insights into our prayer life and God's heart. We’ll start with the Lord’s Prayer, a model of worship, dependence, forgiveness, and surrender. Next, we’ll study Jesus’ intercession in John 17, praying for His disciples' unity, protection, and sanctification. And lastly, we’ll examine Paul’s prayers for the church, emphasizing spiritual growth, wisdom, and strength in faith. These sessions will guide us in shaping our prayers for ourselves, others, and the church.

What We’ll Learn

  • The clearest place we see God's grace revealed is in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. Christ died for our sins and rose again as our living hope! That said, while the Christian life is always full of hope because of the gospel, we may have to endure suffering and hardships in this life. However, we have the promise that God always uses even the most difficult of circumstances for our ultimate good. He uses all things to sanctify us and make us more like Jesus. Though trials are difficult, God's grace allows trials in our lives so that our tested faith may prove to be sincere and genuine. Therefore, we must set our hope fully on the grace that God has given us today and the grace that He will one day reveal to us when Christ comes to take us to our heavenly home!

  • Because of God's grace to us in the gospel, we ought to live righteously as foreigners in this life, knowing that our true home is in heaven. We do this by respecting governing authorities, honoring all people, and doing what is right even in the midst of suffering. Our ultimate example of doing good in the midst of suffering is Jesus, who committed no sin even when evil sinners reviled, mistreated, and crucified Him. By God's grace, we can submit to authority, honor others, and do good even in the midst of trials and suffering by following the example of our Savior Jesus.

  • Through Christ's example, we learn to love one another, even when times are hard. God has given each believer unique spiritual gifts to serve and love the church. We ought to use the grace God has given us in our giftings to serve Him as we serve each other. By God's grace, we can even rejoice in suffering with Christ because we know we are suffering for Him and that He is with us. It is no benefit to suffer for doing evil, but when we suffer for doing good, God graciously uses our suffering for His glory, for our good, and as an example to unbelievers who need Christ.

  • God's grace saves us, God's grace sustains us, and God's grace is what will bring us to our heavenly home. In the Christian walk, we need to hold firmly to the grace of God. God opposes the proud but gives grace to those who are humbly dependent on Him. In our lives, we must humble ourselves under His mighty hand, casting our burdens onto our caring God, and walking continually in His grace. His grace is what began our Christian life, and His grace is what will lead us home. Every single day we wake up, we must depend on His amazing grace!

We believe that there is one triune God who created the world (Genesis 1:1). The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, separating us from Him and putting us at enmity with Him (Romans 3:23, 6:23). God sent His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile us to God by dying in the place of sinners and rising again, conquering sin and death (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8). Whoever repents and believes the good news of the gospel will not perish but will receive the gracious free gift of salvation and experience eternal life with God (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9)!
